ISSUE
Some 2009-2011 Edge, Taurus, Flex, MKS, MKX and 2010-2011 MKT vehicles equipped with a 6F50 or 6F55 transmissions and built on
3/13/2009 and through 6/30/2010 may intermittently exhibit one or more of the following concerns; transmission slipping or neutral-out, 5th gear
start from stop, backup camera on in Drive, or speed control dropping out or inoperative. This may be due to high resistance in the digital
transmission range (TR) sensor.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the concern.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Check the TR sensor circuit resistance.
1. Disconnect connector C168 from the transmission.
2. Measure the resistance between the transmission connector pins:
^ 8 and 4
^ 8 and 5
^8 and 6
^8 and 7
a. The top row of the transmission's pins are numbered 1-10 from left to right. (Figure 1)
b. If any of the four measurements are above 5 Ohms, proceed to Step 3.
c. If all measurements are within specification, this article does not apply. Refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) Section for
diagnosis and repair.
3. Replace the TR sensor. Refer to the WSM, Section 307-01.
a. Use only essential special service tool (ESST) 307-696 to remove the retaining pin that holds the TR sensor in the transmission case.
b. Attach ESST 307-696 to the transmission case with two (2) pan bolts.
2020 Lincoln Truck MKT FWD V6-3.7L  Page 60
c. Slide the cylinder over the head of the retaining pin and tighten the nut on the threaded shaft to pull the cylinder up and retaining pin out of
the transmission case. (Figure 2)
d. Do not allow the park pawl actuator rod to become disengaged from the park pawl and the abutment. Keep the end of the park pawl actuator
rod behind the machined valve body mating surface of the transaxle case. If the park pawl actuator rod becomes disengaged from the park
pawl and the abutment, transaxle removal and disassembly is required to install the actuator rod. (Figure 3)

ISSUE
Some 2010 Taurus vehicles built on or before 5/11/2010, 2010 MKT built on or before 05/05/2010 and 2010 Fusion, Milan and MKZ built on or
before 5/21/2010, equipped with Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) may exhibit a BLIS fault. The error clears
after a key cycle but can reappear at a later time and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B11D6:15 is present. This condition may be attributed to the
software of the left hand (LH) or right hand (RH) side obstacle detection control modules (SOD), or a connector pin fit issue at the exterior rear view
mirror glass sub-assembly LED connector.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE
DO NOT PERFORM A SELF TEST ON THE SOD MODULES PRIOR TO CHECKING FOR DTC(S). RUNNING A SELF TEST WILL
CLEAR DTC(S) AND ITS HISTORY IF THE CONDITION IS INTERMITTENT.
1. Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool, check for DTCs in the SOD module.
a. If DTC B11D6:15 is present, clear the DTC and continue to Step 2.
b. If other DTCs are present, follow normal diagnosis procedures, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-04 for Side and Rear
Vision. Do not continue with this procedure.
NOTE
IN SOME CASES, IF NO DTC'S ARE PRESENT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CLEARED VIA AN EARLIER
DIAGNOSTICS SELF TEST, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO FOLLOW NORMAL DIAGNOSIS IN WSM, SECTION 419-04.
2. Check vehicle application built dates and module software level using IDS scan tool.
a. IDS Scan Tool Software Level Check Procedure.

TO FOLLOW THE KEY CYCLE PROCEDURE WITHOUT WAITING FOR THE IDS PROMPTS WILL CAUSE THE COORDINATED
REPROGRAMMING TO FAIL.
5. Remove appropriate LH and/or RH exterior rear view mirror glass subassemblies per WSM Section 501-09.
6. Inspect the BLIS exterior rear view mirrors glass subassembly connectors for spread or damaged terminals. (Figures 2-3):
a. If the terminals are damaged at the exterior rear view mirror glass subassembly, replace the exterior rear view mirror assembly. Refer to
WSM, Section 501-09.
b. If no damage is found, verify terminal pins are clean and tight.
(1) Place a dab of Motorcraft(R) Electrical Grease on the front and rear of the female terminal connectors.
(2) Place a dab of Motorcraft(R) Electrical Grease on the rear of the male terminal connector to create a weather tight seal. (Figures 2-3)
(3) Reinstall appropriate exterior rear view mirrors glass sub-assemblies per WSM, Section 501-09.
(4) Proceed to Step 7.
7. Use the exterior mirror control switch for proper control operation, cycle the mirrors up and down and left and right, stalling the mirror for 5
seconds at each position. Use the scan tool and check for any SOD faults. If no faults are present, return the vehicle to the customer; the vehicle
is fixed. If B11D6:15 fault is still present, proceed to Step 8.

ISSUE
Some customers of 2010 SYNC-equipped vehicles may express concern with their call sound quality while using the SYNC microphone, complaints
of excessive background noise during a phone call and/or issues with voice recognition accuracy while driving.
2020 Lincoln Truck MKT FWD V6-3.7L  Page 45
ACTION
Follow the service procedure to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
The following procedure involves updating the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) software level and installing an external alternate
SYNC microphone attached to the headliner.
Go to Step 2 if vehicle is already equipped with SYNC 3.0 (Traffic and Directions) or has already been upgraded to latest available consumer
interface processor (CIP) level (AR3T-14D544-AE). To determine the current APIM software level, refer to the Professional Technician Society
(PTS) website, enter the VIN in OASIS, click the GO button and select the SYNC button.
1. Reprogram the APIM to CIP software level AR3T-14D544-AE. For additional information, refer to other SYNC TSB'S and Workshop Manual
(WSM), Section 418-01. Service Pack files may also be obtained at www.syncmyride.com.
When diagnosing a concern related to voice recognition (VR) difficulties, instruct the customer to test VR functionality while the vehicle is parked.
If customer concerns are still present, this procedure will not yield an improvement and the service procedure should not be performed. Instead, refer
to the SYNC supplement guide and www.syncmyride.com for additional VR tips to assist customer.
The VR experience can be improved with user training and making improvements to the phone book entries (longer entries make the system more
robust). Ensure the customer does not try to speak too loud or slow and remove any objects hanging on the rear view mirror as this will reduce
system effectiveness.
When diagnosing a concern related to call sound quality, expect marginal improvements for calls described as speaking in a tunnel, chamber, etc.
Expect substantial improvements for complaints where the call audio seems to drop out intermittently.
NOTE
THIS REPAIR WILL CHANGE THE APPEARANCE OF THE VEHICLE INTERIOR. REFER TO THE PHOTOGRAPHS FOR THE
APPLICABLE VEHICLE LOCATED IN THIS PROCEDURE. DO NOT PERFORM THIS REPAIR WITHOUT CUSTOMER APPROVAL
PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH MICROPHONE INSTALLATION.
2. Install SYNC microphone service kit. Installing the kit includes mounting an external microphone directly to the headliner and splicing in a
jumper harness to the vehicle's existing wiring harness. The existing SYNC microphone will no longer be functional.
Refer to the appropriate vehicle line and microphone illustration(s) below for microphone installation and wire splicing locations. Use the wiring
diagram (WD), Section 5-1, for recommended splicing methods.
Ensure the SYNC microphone wires are secure and do not interfere with vehicle operation or functionality.
The microphone is directional. Make sure the microphone is always positioned so wire length is minimized from view. When installing the
microphone adjacent to trim, place the microphone as close to trim as possible to help minimize visible wire.
Fusion, Milan And MKZ Built On Or Before 12/2/2009
1. Remove the protective backing from the adhesive on the microphone and attach the microphone as shown in the illustration. (Figure 1)
^ Firmly press the microphone into place.
^ Ensure the microphone is parallel and adjacent to overhead console trim.
2. Lower the overhead console. Refer to WSM, Section 417-02 for additional information.
3. Route microphone cable through existing hole in the headliner and over to the passenger side A-pillar. It may be necessary to slightly drop

headliner to run microphone cable. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05 for additional information.
4. Install overhead console; ensure microphone cable enters the overhead console trim directly behind microphone.
5. Gain access to C919 in the right A-pillar. Use online WD, Section 124 for links to location and connector views.
6. Identify circuits VMM13, RMM13 and DMM13 (shield) from C919. Cut the three circuits on the female side of the connector (14334 harness).
These are the microphone positive, negative and shield circuits. Then splice the yellow jumper harness wire to VMM13 and any two (of the
three) black jumper harness wires to RMM13 and DMM13 (shield). Only splice into the cut wires heading in the direction of the connector. Tape
off and secure the cut wire ends heading up the A-pillar as they are no longer used.
7. Identify circuits CBP41 and GD139 from C919. This is power and ground for both the new microphone and the existing mirror. Splice in the
blue jumper harness wire to CBP41 and the remaining black jumper harness wire to GD139. Ensure that the original circuits remain intact and
connected as this is power for other items within the rear view mirror and in the roof.
8. Do not plug in the microphone at this time, proceed to Final Test I Service Steps.

ISSUE
Some 2010 Flex, MKS, MKT vehicles built on or before 10/18/09 and 2010 Taurus vehicles built on or before 11/17/2009 might exhibit an
automatic transmission shift flare on the initial 2-3 shift after a restart, and for vehicles without Eco Boost (Non GIDI) a slight delay/bump after a
3-1 coasting downshift below 10 MPH (16 Km/h). This may be caused by the powertrain control module (PCM) calibration. A new calibration is
available that will improve shift feel on initial 2-3 shift after restart and reduce the slight delay/bump after a 3-1 coasting downshift below 10 MPH
(16 Km/h).
ACTION
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 65.07 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2010.1 DVD.

This article supersedes TSB 09-24-09 to update the production fix date and Service Procedure.
2020 Lincoln Truck MKT FWD V6-3.7L  Page 14
1. Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool, check for DTCs in the SOD module.

for right side SOD modules software part number.
3. For Taurus and MKT vehicles built on or before 9/28/2009 and Fusion, Milan and MKZ vehicles built on or before 10/15/2009 check the SOD
module software part number. For vehicles built after these date ranges proceed to step 5.
a. If the module software contains part number 9E5T-14D368-AH or a later version, do not reprogram the module, the module already contains
the latest software, proceed to Step 5.
b. If the module software part numbers ends with a suffix of AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, AF, AG, Reprogram the left and right SOD modules to the
latest calibration using IDS release 63.12 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2009.9 DVD. Calibration files may
also be obtained at the website. Proceed to Step 4.
4. IDS Scan Tool SOD Programming Procedure.
a. With IDS already installed.
b. Select Module Programming.
c. Select Module Reprogramming and select SOD-L.
d. Follow the screens on IDS as outlined; this will reprogram both SOD left and right side modules.
NOTE
THE IDS SCAN TOOL PROGRAM WILL REPROGRAM BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE SOD MODULES AT THE SAME TIME.
FOLLOW THE COORDINATED REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE EXACTLY AS OUTLINED BY THE IDS SCAN TOOL. FAILURE
TO FOLLOW THE KEY CYCLE PROCEDURE WITHOUT WAITING FOR THE IDS PROMPTS WILL CAUSE THE COORDINATED
REPROGRAMMING TO FAIL.
2020 Lincoln Truck MKT FWD V6-3.7L  Page 15
(3) Re-install appropriate exterior rear view mirrors glass subassemblies per WSM, Section 501-09.
8. For Taurus vehicles built on or before 5/11/2010, MKT vehicles built on or before 5/05/2010, and Fusion, Milan and MKZ vehicles built
prior to 5/21/2010, replace the appropriate exterior left and/or right side complete mirror assembly per WSM Section 501-09. Refer to

13. Turn the engine off and wait for one (1) minute to purge any large air pockets from the cooling system.
14. Check the engine coolant level in the degas bottle and if necessary fill to 25 mm (1") above the top of the cold fill line on the degas bottle if the
engine is warm or to the top of the cold fill line if the engine is cold.
15. Install the degas bottle cap until at least one (1) audible click is heard.
16. Start the engine and let it idle until the engine reaches normal operating temperature and the thermostat is fully open. A fully open thermostat is
verified by the cooling system fan cycling on at least once.
17. Increase the engine speed to 3,500 RPM and hold for 30 seconds.
18. Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds.
19. Turn the engine off for one (1) minute.
20. Repeat Steps 17-19 a total of 15 times to remove any remaining air trapped in the system.
21. Check the engine coolant level in the degas bottle and if necessary fill to 25 mm (1") above the top of the cold fill line on the degas bottle if the
engine is warm or to the top of the cold fill line if the engine is cold.
22. Install the degas bottle cap until at least one (1) audible click is heard.
23. Repeat Steps 4-8.
24. Does vehicle meet minimum discharge air temperature criteria?
