ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) - TURNS OFF
FORD:
2010 Taurus
LINCOLN:
2010 MKS, MKT
This article supersedes TSB 09-26-6 to update the Service Procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2010 MKS, MKT and Taurus vehicles equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) may experience the ACC disengaging while driving on
sparse or rural roads. The message center may display Collision Warning Not Available, Cruise Not Available, and or diagnostic trouble code
(DTC) C1A67:97 in the message center. This may occur when the forward-looking sensor does not see a vehicle or object on the road for an
extended period. After driving an additional distance and/or on less sparse or busier roads the adaptive cruise control functionality may become
available.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Heavy rain, mud, slush or snowpack blockage to the forward looking sensor at the bumper fascia will cause the ACC system to turn off. This is a
normal system operation.
The reprogramming of the module will only improve the performance of the ACC system.
1. Inspect the forward looking sensor for being blocked by ice, snow, dirt and debris. If necessary remove debris.
2. Reprogram the cruise-control module (C-CM) to the latest calibration using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 65.14 and higher or

66.01A and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2010.1 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
a. Technicians are advised to:
(1) Connect the vehicle battery to a battery charger.
(2) Connect the service tool computer to an outlet for power and not running on battery alone.
(3) Turn off computer sleep modes before reprogramming.
b. IDS Scan Tool - Programming Procedure
(1) Connect service tool to the vehicle via the Data Communication Link (DCL).
(2) ID the vehicle.
(3) Select Module Programming.
(4) Select Module Reprogramming and select C-CM.
